Surrender turns ordinary men into Kingdom leaders.
– Wilson Alvarez
Men are often taught that strength means control. We are told to push through, hold on, and never show weakness. But true godly leadership is different. It balances strength with surrender. 2 Corinthians 12:10 reminds us, “For when I am weak, then I am strong.” God does not ask us to lead alone. He asks us to surrender our plans and trust His.
Being strong is important. Families, businesses, and communities need men who are bold and steady. But strength without surrender leads to burnout and pride. When you invite God into your leadership, you learn how to carry the load without it crushing you. Strength is found in action. Surrender is found in obedience. Both are necessary.
In Proverbs 3:5-6, we are told, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” The best leaders know when to step forward and when to let God take the lead. Surrender does not make you weak. It makes you wiser. The man who depends on God becomes a leader others want to follow.
Balancing strength and surrender means listening before acting. It means praying before deciding. It means trusting God even when the path is not clear. The world celebrates self-made men. But Kingdom men know they are God-made. Their success is not about what they can build alone, but what they build through faith.
As Max Lucado once said, “God never said the journey would be easy, but He did say that the arrival would be worthwhile.” When you surrender your plans and lean on His strength, your leadership changes. You guide others with grace. You serve without selfish ambition. You make an impact that lasts beyond yourself.
The takeaway from this blog is simple. Godly leadership requires both strength and surrender. When you give God control, He gives you the wisdom and endurance you need to lead well.
Here’s your call to action. This week, pause and pray over the areas where you are leading. Ask God where He is calling you to be strong and where He is asking you to surrender. When you follow His lead, the results are always greater than what you could create on your own.
