The best leadership meetings start with prayer
– Wilson Alvarez
Leadership is more than making decisions and hitting goals. It is about caring for people. As Christians in business, we have the unique opportunity to lead with faith, bringing God’s love and wisdom into the workplace. What happens in the boardroom should always reflect what happens in the prayer room.
In James 1:5, we are told, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault.” Before you lead your team, lead yourself in prayer. God is ready to give direction, peace, and solutions that you cannot find in a meeting agenda. Decisions made in prayer bring clarity and unity.
Leadership through faith means treating people with respect. It means creating a culture of grace and understanding. Your team is watching how you respond under pressure. Colossians 4:6 encourages us, “Let your conversation be always full of grace.” Whether it is a performance review, a tough negotiation, or daily interactions, you have the chance to show what it looks like to lead like Jesus.
When you put God first in your leadership, your business becomes more than a company. It becomes a ministry. Imagine starting staff meetings with a short prayer or quietly praying over your office space before the day begins. These small actions invite God into your workplace, transforming the atmosphere and the results.
Craig Groeschel once said, “People would rather follow a leader who is always real than one who is always right.” Faith-filled leadership is not about being perfect. It is about being authentic. Be honest about your need for God’s guidance. Show your team what it looks like to walk in faith. When they see you relying on God, they are encouraged to do the same.
The takeaway from this blog is simple. Leadership without faith is limited. But when you lead with God, you create a culture where people feel valued, supported, and inspired. Your boardroom becomes a place of purpose, and your business becomes part of God’s greater plan.
Here’s your call to action. Take time this week to pray over your team. Ask God to guide your leadership and help you create a workplace filled with grace and wisdom. Start leading from your prayer room, and watch God work in your boardroom.
